Zelda Smith, age 93, died on June 20, 2013, in Glenwood, Minn. She was born in Dodge Center, Minn. on January 7, 1920. Her family later moved to Roseville, Minn. where she spent most of her younger years. She was a graduate of Forest Lake High School and attended a teachers college in Winona, Minn.

She was married to Ralph Smith in 1940 and, after his WW II Naval service, they moved to Morris when he became a member of the WCCS staff.

She was a member of the Federated Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible Study for many years. She was a Campfire Leader, a member of the Literary Guild, the Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

She was employed at the UMM Bookstore and retired from there in 1982. She and Ralph then moved to Lake Rachel in Douglas County. Ralph died in 1987 and Zelda continued to live at the lake until 1999 when she moved to Alexandria. She moved to the Glenwood Village Care Center in 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and daughters Sharon and Judy.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Donald and Martha, her daughter and her husband, Art and Jean, by her sons-in-law Tom Wagner and Jim Tichich and 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel in the Glenwood Village Care Center at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013.
