STELLAR/Gateway Day of Service
The Morris Area School District and Salvation Army are collecting school supplies for low-income families in the county until Friday, Aug. 8. New UMM students will be at Thrifty White, Shopko, Willie’s, and the UMM Bookstore with lists of needed items. Please take some time to purchase needed items at one of these locations and to talk with new students. They will provide small tokens of appreciation for donations. Students also will plan and prepare a community meal, which will be served from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church (207 E 3rd Street). Please stop by for this free, healthy, locally sourced meal. Additional projects include planning a lesson for children at the Morris Area Child Care Center and planning interactive activities with residents of the Courage Cottage and West Wind Village.
Morris Renewable Energy Tour
The Morris Renewable Energy Tour will depart from the Stevens County Fairgrounds (from the south side of Lee Community Center next to County Road 22) on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. Interest points include the biomass plant, wind turbines, and the Regional Fitness Center solar panels. The tour is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is available online at morris.umn.edu/greensummer.
