Tigers get ready for New London-Spicer rematch

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta ended the West Central Conference South season unbeaten with a 77-62 win over Paynesville Monday in boys' basketball action.

The Tigers will host New London-Spicer in the West Central interconference championship game Friday. That game starts at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale when the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Activity passes will not be accepted for the championship or for any section play-off games.

The Tigers finish the season 16-0 in the conference and 22-2 overall. The Bulldogs fell to 4-11 and 5-15, with one game against BOLD remaining on their schedule.

The Tigers cruised through the first half and entered the break with a 45-30 lead. Paynesville ramped up its shooting and finished with 61 percent from the field, but made 25 of 41 field goals, compared to 34 made by the Tigers.

Lincoln Arnold recorded 22 points and six rebounds to lead the Tigers. Cory Hennen added 13 points, Corey Nohl and Eric Riley had 12 each, and Alex Erickson had 10.

Nohl and Hennen grabbed five rebounds apiece. Riley led the Tigers with five assists and three steals.

Jason Kampsen scored 16 points and pulled down eight boards for the Bulldogs.
