MORRIS, Minn. -- There will be no parking along East Seventh Street from Columbia Avenue to College Avenue starting Tuesday as demolition crews begin large-scale debris removal from the old elementary school property.

Sgt. Ross Tiegs of the Morris Police Department said parking could be restricted on other streets near the old elementary school during demolition, depending on what routes trucks removing the debris will use.

Last week, City Manager Blaine Hill told the Morris City Council that the main safety concern during the demolition is gawkers driving around the site.

“They’re going to have trucks that are hauling out of there -- it’s not going to place for people to be driving by to see what’s happening,” said Hill.

The city and demolition company will also be on the lookout for a time capsule buried under one corner of the building.
