Six candidates to interview for MAHS principal position
Correction: This story originally stated that Cory Steiner was a principal at West Fargo High School. That is incorrect. Steiner was released from his contract in that district in June at his request.
MORRIS - Six candidates are set to be interviewed for the open position as principal of Morris Area High School.
Mike Coquyt submitted his resignation on June 20 and finished out his contract on June 30, although he has been contracted for an additional 15 days of work to assist with the transition to a new administrator.
Despite the late posting for the position, the district received 17 applicants for the position. Superintendent Scott Monson offered interviews to seven candidates, and six accepted. Interviews will be conducted by a team of district staff and school board members on July 24 and 25.
In a memo to the Morris Area School Board, Monson said he hopes to extend an offer soon after the interviews.
"It would be a goal to have someone in place as early as August 1, although that might be a bit optimistic," said Monson.
