Sheriff's Office warns about scam letter in community

MORRIS -- The Stevens County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning about scam letters circulating in the community.

Stevens County residents have received letters from "Registered Property Services" that appear legitimate, asking individuals to pay $83 in exchange for a copy of their deed and a property profile.

"These are not legitimate messages and you should exercise caution when you receive correspondence asking for money," the warning stated.

Stevens County Sheriff Jason Dingman said a "handful" of residents have brought the letters to the courthouse to ask about them. Dingman added that address residents are asked to send the money to is also not a legitimate business address.

Questions regarding these or other suspicious solicitations can be directed to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office at 320-208-6500.
