Ridgewater seeks public comments on school, programs
WILLMAR -- Ridgewater College is seeking public comments about the quality of the school and its programs, in preparation for a February accreditation visit.
A team from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools will visit Ridgewater Feb. 18-20.
The visit will be part of the ongoing accreditation of the school. The three institutions that merged to create Ridgewater College were all accredited, beginning in 1972 with Willmar Community College.
Ridgewater College participates in the Academic Quality Improvement Program, an alternative process for maintaining accreditation.
Its goals are to build continuous quality improvement efforts into the culture of the college to assure the continued vitality of the institution.
Ridgewater has three ongoing AQIP projects. One is an outreach effort to underserved youth, including Somali and Latino youths, to provide them more information about opportunities available to them in college.
Other projects have to do with working to develop common course outlines within each discipline and to develop a process for accreditation of online programs and degrees.
Written, signed public comments related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs may be sent Public Comment on Ridgewater College, The Higher Learning Commission, 30 North LaSalle St., Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602.
Comments must be received by Jan. 9 to be considered.
The comments should include the name, address and telephone number of the person providing the comments. The information submitted will not be confidential.
