The Mets won the Morris Little League playoff tournament in come-from-behind fashion having to beat the Brewers twice to take the first place spot in the tournament on Friday, July 18.

The No. 2-seeded Brewers were undefeated in postseason play en route to the championship game, beating the Angels (6-0), the White Sox (4-3), and the Cubs (6-1).

The No. 5-seeded Mets’ route to the title game had a bit more action, playing double the amount of games the Brewers did, which may have given them an edge in the title matchup. The Mets went 7-1 in postseason play, losing to the Twins in the first round at the end of June then beating the Rex Sox (5-4), the Tigers (8-0), the White Sox (3-2), avenging the earlier loss to the Twins (13-1), the Cubs (18-3), and then the Brewers twice to win the tournament (5-2, 5-4).

Leading at the plate for the Mets last Friday night was Bo Massner, getting two hits each game, scoring twice in game one and knocking in two runs in game two.

For the Brewers, Zach Bruns went 6-for-6 on the night, knocking a rbi triple in game one and two doubles and one rbi in game two.

The Mets had ace pitchers Austin Berlinger, Brady Loge, and Brett Hansen share duties on the mound, combining for 30 K’s between both games.

Zach Bruns, Bradley Rohloff, and Cameron Koebernick shared pitching duties for the Brewers with Bruns striking out 13 batters himself in a little over five total innings pitched.
