Letter: Habitat for Humanity seeking family for 2015 build

Stevens County chapter of Habitat for Humanity is taking applications for its next build, planned for Hancock in 2015.  Persons who apply must be able to show income that is steady but low (depending on family size), and must commit to provide “sweat equity,” that is, helping with various phases of the project.

Stevens County is an affiliate of the Prairie Lakes Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, with an office in Glenwood. Since 2005 we have completed four homes in Alberta and Morris, plus one renovation. Five families who previously lived in inadequate housing are now making monthly mortgage payments and paying property taxes on their safe, comfortable and energy-efficient homes.

In addition our tithe (the money we donate to Habitat for Humanity International) has made it possible for ten families in Honduras to live in decent, affordable homes for the first time.

If you know someone who needs adequate housing and is willing to work for it, please urge them to contact us before Sept. 30, 2014.
