Heavy at-bats secure Two-Niners win

The Morris Legion Post 29 secured a win over Wheaton with 11 hits and 10 runs on Monday, June 23 after dropping a game to Eden Valley-Watkins last Friday, June 20 in Morris.

The Two-Niners traveled to Oaskis on Thursday, June 26, and continue baseball on the road on Monday, June 30 in Barrett against the Ducks and in Willmar on Tuesday, July 1. Morris will be back at Chizek Field in Morris on Thursday, July 3 when the Two-Niners host Wheaton in hopes for a repeat victory.

EV-Watkins 7, Morris 3

The Two-Niners dropped a game to Eden Valley-Watkins last Friday, June 20 in Morris.

In the 7-3 loss, Morris had seven hits with Joey Dufault leading the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 scoring twice. Phillip Anderson, and Bryce and Brady Jergenson all doubled in the game with Bryce and Brady knocking in a run with their hits.

Bryce Jergenson and Dufault shared pitching duties with Jergenson going five innings and striking out seven and Dufault pitching two in relief, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out three.

The Two-Niners fell to 1-2 with this loss.

Morris 10, Wheaton 7

The Two-Niners got back to .500 with a win over host Wheaton on Monday, June 23.

Eight batters visited the plate in the fifth inning for Morris to put the Two-Niners ahead for good. Sean Amundson tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth by drawing a bases-loaded walk and Riley Biesterfeld followed with a hit that went over the center fielder's head for a three-run double.

Biesterfeld also worked all seven innings on the mound to earn the win for Morris. Biesterfeld surrendered 12 hits, but only gave up two earned runs while striking out three.

Morris, which scored twice in the first, put three runs on the board in the fourth behind Bryce Jergenson’s two-run homer and Jared Anderson’s RBI single in the 10-7 win over Wheaton.
