The Hancock FFA Spring Banquet and Awards Night was held on April 15 at the school. The banquet included speeches by State FFA Officer Labecca Johnson and Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap. Several awards were presented during the program that ended with the installation of the 2010-2011 officers.
Superintendent Jerry Martinson offered a welcome to the 150 family members and guests in attendance. He praised the FFA program stating that it was an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership skills.
FFA president Jason Schaefer introduced state FFA officer Labecca Johnson who talked about how FFA has affected her life. She told the guests that there are 86,400 seconds in each day and we have the ability to make each second in our life worth something.
Kevin Paap spoke about aspects of FFA such as attitude and relationships. He asked those present if they knew someone who brightened a room whenever they entered. He then asked if they knew someone who brightened a room when they left. He explained that we can make a difference in how we affect others through our attitude.
He also told the FFA members to be passionate about agriculture. He encouraged them to take control of the issues. "If you are not at the table, then you will be on the menu," is how he explained that they need to work toward making a better future in agriculture.
