Gladys Osterloh

Gladys (Mrs. Gordon) Osterloh, age 67, Wilmot passed away Sept. 9, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral was Sept. 14 at Wilmot Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Wilmot Cemetery. Music was provided by Janice Vreim, organist and Jerry Niles, vocalist. Casketbearers were: Curtis Osterloh, Don Osterloh, Paul Madsen, James Madsen, Jon Madsen, Gary Weeden, Zachary Arnold, Gabriel Arnold, Peter Arnold, Roman Reinart, and Kleon Kvatum.

Gladys Grace Madsen was born July 18, 1943, to Earl and Norma (Backman) Madsen on her grandparents farm in rural Roberts County, S.D. She attended country school in Lee Township and graduated from Wilmot High School. Gladys left Wilmot to live, and work as a fry cook in Sioux Falls, SD. She was united in marriage with Gordon Osterloh on April 2, 1966, in Wilmot, S.D. They soon moved to Isanti and stayed there until 1971. They returned to Wilmot, S.D. and have since resided.

Together with Gordon, Gladys owned and operated Osterloh Produce from 1972 to 1980, and Osterloh Oil from 1977 to 2005. She was an active member of the Wilmot Community Club for many years, and a lifetime member of Wilmot Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling to visit family and friends and attending each and every activity that involved her children and grandchildren. She was especially proud to have assisted her five boys in attaining perfect attendance throughout their school years. Her most treasured times were spent in the kitchen preparing endless meals and baked goods for family, friends and customers.

Gladys Osterloh is survived by her husband, Gordon of Wilmot, S.D.; five sons: Lee of Sioux Falls, S.D.; David and wife Sara of Wilmot, S.D.; Daniel of Wilmot, S.D.; Craig of Marvin, S.D.; and Mark and wife Angie of Watertown, S.D.; three grandchildren: Austin, Brady and Kylie; her mother: Norma Madsen of Wilmot, S.D. one brother and sister-in-law: Elroy and Sandy Madsen of Wilmot, SD; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorene and Jerry Lotzer of Brookings, S.D.; Mary Ann and Glenn Weeden of Milbank, S.D.; Karen and Steve Arnold of Morris; Arlene and Joe Reinart of Beardsley; one sister-in-law: Carol Madsen of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother: Eldred.
