Gators fall to top teams

After big wins over Montevideo and Holdingford, the Gators were  a little  flat last week against top rated teams of Melrose and Sauk Centre.

“We swam the top two teams in the conference and sections,” explained coach Linda Hoffmann. “We gave it a try to swim well, but key people were sick that altered the results.

“We moved around the lineup to try the swimmers in new events (and) we had some good, surprising results.”

The Gator varsity fell to Melrose 112-68. The junior varsity was defeated 106-57.

Against Sauk Centre Thursday, the varsity Gators fell to the Mainstreeters 101-73. The junior varsity fell 101-64.

Personal bests swims during the week were made by Leah Thorstad in the 50 and 100 free; Teresa Boyd in the 50 and 100 free; Julia Ladner in the 50 breast; Mason Schlief in the 200 IM; Rachel Erickson in the 100 and 200 free; Ashley Anderson in the 100 fly; Amanda Thompson in the 100 breast; Lindsay Schmidt in the 100 free and back; Meghan Thoen in the 100 back; Lacey Entzi in the 200 free and 100 fly; Julia Hoffmann in the 50 free and 100 breast; Greta Serrin in the 100 breast; Kallan Mercier in the 500 free; Ashlee Boysen in the 50 free; Elizabeth Mayer in the 50 and 100 free; M’Kenzy Larson in the 50 free; and Danielle Reuss in the 50 and 100 free.
