Elizabeth Evangeline Kopff McRoberts, age 92, of Morris, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at West Wind Village. A private family service will be held at the West Wind Village Chapel with burial at the Calvary Cemetery in Morris in the spring of 2010.
Elizabeth was born on April 9, 1917 near Buffalo to Henry Ernest and Grace (Varner) Kopff. She grew up on her family's resort on Lake Pulaski, attended Buffalo Public Schools and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. After college, she moved to Fargo, N.D. where she met her future husband, Raymond. They were united in marriage in December of 1941, and to this union four children were born.
They made their home in Western Minnesota, but eventually settled in the Twin Cities. Elizabeth first worked at J.C. Penney's and then at Marsh McClellan Insurance Company, also in Minneapolis, until her retirement.
Although Elizabeth worked outside of the home for much of her adult life, she was devoted to her children and always supported their educational and career aspirations. In retirement, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to travel with her children and she enjoyed reading, knitting, movies and bridge. Elizabeth and her family always appreciated the caring and support of the staff at West Wind Village, her home for nearly six years.
Survivors include her children Betty Rae Borden of Morris, Thomas McRoberts of Morris, Raymond Spencer McRoberts (Susan) of Rochester and Merrilee Ann McRoberts of Minneapolis; her sisters-in-law, Florence Murphy of Morris and Margaret Schmidt of St. Peter, her brother-in-law, James (Janice) McRoberts of Morris; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Borden) McElligott, Christian Borden, Benjamin Borden, Michael McRoberts, David McRoberts, Sara and Sonia McRoberts, and great-grandchildren, Henry McElligott, twins Samuel and William McElligott and Hannah Marie McRoberts (just born Feb. 12, 2010). She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents Henry Ernest Kopff and Grace Varner Kopff, and her siblings, Clara Ordorff, Isabella Bohan, Flora Evans and Spencer Kopff.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home of Elbow Lake.
