Eleanor V. Libby, 92 of Nevis, Minn. died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.

Eleanor V. Blade was born on May 5, 1920 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Anton and Agda (Johnson) Blade. She was raised in northeast Minneapolis, graduating from Edison High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Donald Libby on Feb. 17, 1940 and they continued to live in northeast Minneapolis until moving to Willmar in 1947. The family moved to Morris, MN in 1952.

Eleanor was a homemaker and mother and she did bookkeeping in the family auto parts business. She and Don retired to 3rd Crow Wing Lake near Park Rapids – Nevis in 1981.

Eleanor was member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Nevis, for eight years she served as the treasurer of the BLCW, she also belonged to the Esther Circle. She was a past Worthy Matron of Corinthian Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star in Morris.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her son – Richard; her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by her son – Douglas (Jan) Libby of Nevis; Granddaughter – Gail (Kurt) Libby; Grandsons – Daniel (Kim) Libby and Mark Libby; great grandchildren – Alex Johnson, Sam Libby and Mary Libby; sister – Mildred Masica; six nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis. Visitation was held for 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Pastor Darrell Morton was the officiant. Barb Hanson was the organist, Carol Rice sang “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “Borning Cry” and “Children of the Heavenly Father.” Active casketbearers were the family members – Daniel Libby, Mark Libby, Sam Libby, Alex Johnson, Kurt Johnson and Warner Luoma. Interment will be held in the spring at the Lakeview Cemetery in Nevis. Arrangements were handled by the Cease Family Funeral Home of Nevis. Friends may leave on-line condolences at
