Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Some very cool temperatures this week are a reminder of what is to come. Most farmers in the area have their crop in, fall tillage done, and are doing some tilling and other odds jobs.
In news from St. John’s/Kongsvinger: The Kongsvinger fall festival is Nov. 24 beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a lunch, bake sale and raffle items.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: The deadline for returning boxes for “Operation Christmas Child” is Nov. 18.
I was asked to announce that Easton Anthony Hufford made his first appearance at Good Shepherd on Nov. 10.
Thanksgiving eve services will be held at Good Shepherd and also at Kongsvinger at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27.
The Donnelly fire department’s annual turkey bingo is Nov. 22 starting at 7 p.m. at the Donnelly hall.
Marge Beyer of Morris passed away on Nov. 7. Survivors include her daughters-in-law: Carol (Benston) and Jamie (Wilcox) and their families.
The Tiger tennis award winners include Brittany Cardwell, most improved and Carly Gullickson, sportsmanship award.
The Tiger athletes of the week during the fall sports season included Carly Gullickson, Beth Holland, Rebekah and Savannah Aanerud, and Gage Backman.
The Morris Area FFA won several awards at the National Convention: Marketing team - Silver, Joanna Moser was a member of that team, Ag issues team - Bronze, Rebekah Aanerud and Melanie Van Horn were members of that team. The chapter as a whole received three-star awards.
Congratulations to Herb and Carol Kloos, who are celebrating, their 60th wedding anniversary this month, and Scott and Kathy Bahr, who recently celebrated 30 years of marriage.

Several of us from the Donnelly area attended the Scandinavian heritage dinner on Nov. 6. Following the meal, I stopped to visit with Wally McCollar at his shop in Morris.
On Nov. 8, I visited my aunt Pearl A. Anderson.
On Nov. 10, I attended the hymn sing at Federated Church. That evening I attended the Tim Danial concert.
On Nov. 11, the Donnelly community club had their last meeting of the year, putting the wraps on another good year. Afterwards I visited with Jim and Lou Eystad. Jim was one of the veterans honored at the Veterans Day program at the Morris Area School earlier in the day. Lou said they had been to the dinner at the Mennonite Church by Starbuck on Nov. 8.
On Nov. 12 I attended the Grant County Ag Society’s annual meeting in Herman.
On Nov. 13, Mark Koepke and I attended the meatball supper at Faith Lutheran in Morris.
