Buddies takes fourth place in Chippewa League tournament

Buddies played the third place game on Wednesday and came up short in a hard-fought 12-11 game vs. Benson Fire Dept.
Buddies fell behind 9-0 after two innings when some fielding miscues allowed Benson to gain this advantage.
Buddies cut the lead to 9-3 in the third inning when, with two outs, Cole Voorhees walked and Bryce Schmidgall, Anthony Koehl, and Justin Peterson all singled to drive in three runs.
Buddies made the score 9-5 in the fifth when Brendan Jensen singled, and Brandon Shaw walked. Following two strikeouts, Logan Kisgen, Kayla Crowell and Cole Voorhees all walked to score two more runs.
Benson added three runs in the fourth to make the score 12-5.
Buddies closed the gap to 12-8 when Brett Kellner and Will Osterman both walked. Logan Kisgen grounded out with Brett scoring. Following a strikeout, Cole Voorhees was hit by a pitch. Bryce Schmidgall singled to drive in two runs.
Buddies again rallied in the seventh when Justin Peterson walked and Collin Brown tripled to drive in Justin. Brendan Jensen singled to drive in Collin. Brandon Shaw singled and Brett Kellner walked to load the bases. Kayla Crowell was hit by a pitch to drive in a run, but the rally ended there, one run short.
Buddies ended up fourth in the tournament and fourth in the regular season. The players and coaches would like to thank Buddies Bar and Grill for sponsoring the team and also would like to thank Mitch and Mac Grunig for umpiring the home games. The coaches would like to thank the parents for getting the players to practice and games on time and for driving players to games.
