HUMANE SOCIETY FUNDRAISER DINNER will be begin at 6 p.m. at Old No. 1 Southside.

SCHLIEF FAMILY BENEFIT will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hancock School gym. A free-will donation meal will be provided by Wurstmachers. Event includes a live raffle, silent auction, bake sale and kiddie carnival.

SUNDAY, MAY 6

GATHERINGS FOR WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS will meet for lunch at noon in the basement of the Old No. 1 in Morris. Order lunch off the menu and enjoy an opportunity to visit with old friends and meet new ones who are also experiencing life as a widow/widower. ICE CREAM SOCIAL from 1 to 4 p.m. at the main entrance to Stevens Community Medical Center at 400 E First St., Morris. SCMC invites our friends and neighbors to celebrate National Hospital Week with us.

STEVENS COUNTY HRA OPEN HOUSE will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the new office in the Grandview Apartments (100 S Columbia, Morris). Everyone welcome for coffee and donuts.

SATURDAY, MAY 12

COMMENCEMENT UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MORRIS .More than 350 students will receive their degrees at the 55th Commencement on Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. on the campus mall. United States Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be the commencement speaker. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the P.E. Center, with seating limited to five guest tickets per graduate. Accommodations for non ticketed guests to view the ceremony will be available in Humanities Fine Arts, Recital Hall. LETTER CARRIERS' STAMPOUTHUNGERr® FOOD DRIVE. Local letter carriers will be leaving grocery bags and postcard reminders in mailboxes this week. On Saturday place non-perishable food items in a bag by your mailbox, and your local letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to a local food shelf like the Stevens County Food Shelf.

BABYSITTING CLINIC FOR GRADES 4 AND UP, sponsored by the Morris Area Women of Today, will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Morris Area High School cafeteria. Register at the Community Education Office.

POMME DE TERRE GARDEN CLUB PLANT SALE will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at East Side Park in Morris. Mums, perennials, annuals, succulents, sprengeri (asparagus fern), vinca vines, houseplants, and miscellaneous garden items. Come early for best selection. Proceeds benefit community projects.
