Minnesota national farmers group to meet in Sauk Centre

The annual state convention of the Minnesota National Farmers Organization (NFO) will be held Saturday, December 5 at the Lynx Golf Course, located two miles south of Sauk Centre along Highway 71. This is a new location for NFO's annual meeting.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. and State President Joe Neaton of Watertown will call the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.

Keynote speaker for the afternoon session is Brad Rach, head of the national dairy department, who is well known for his efforts the past few years in trying to get major dairy cooperatives across the country to come together to establish a fair price for milk, along with a two-tier milk marketing system.

Milk prices have been extremely low the past year or so, while costs have gone up for dairy farmers, an issue that is sure to take up considerable time at the state convention.

Several representatives from the Minnesota Future Farmers of America will attend the convention and give presentations. There will be a silent auction of pies, with proceeds being donated to a local food shelf. All women attending are encouraged to bring their best homemade pie. There will also be door prizes and a quilt auction
